DIRECTOR OF INSTITUIONAL ADVANCEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT

The Director of Development is responsible for the planning, organization, and coordination of the school's efforts to raise contributions for operations, capital, and endowment purposes.

The Director works with employees, volunteers, consultants, and the Development (Advancement) Committee, and is also a liaison to the marketing function.

Responsibilities
  1. Works with school's Headmaster, the Development (Advancement) Committee, and consultants to draft an aggressive annual financial development plan with objectives, goals, methods, and timeline.
  2. Organizes staff, board, and volunteers to implement the Development Plan, seeking contributions for operating, capital, and endowment purposes from individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations.
  3. Manages staff and volunteers in cultivating relationships with donor prospects.
  4. Carries out a program of education regarding planned giving, including developing relationships with professional advisors.
  5. Creates and maintains an effective donor information system.
  6. Coordinates and motivates volunteers to implement financial development activities.
  7. Develops and maintains reports on progress toward goals.
  8. Reports quarterly to the Board and monthly to the Finance Committee on results of implementing the financial development plan.
  9. Participates in professional development activities.


Description: This is a half-time position, 20 hours/week at an annual salary of $20,000. Position reports directly to the Headmaster, but meets regularly with the Advancement Committee to review and modify Development plan, prioritize activities, and implement goals.

Candidate should have:
  1. The ability to create momentum, causing things to happen; be proactive.
  2. An interest in non-profit Christian organizations with some history of giving to and working for these organizations; should derive satisfaction from raising money.
  3. The ability to coordinate and motivate volunteers across a wide spectrum of activities.
  4. The ability to work closely with other staff and volunteers.
  5. The ability to translate objectives and goals into a workable plan, delegating appropriately while retaining control.
  6. The ability to coordinate promotional activities with fund raising efforts.
  7. The ability to make strong personal presentations.
  8. The ability to generate trust from donors and team members.


Candidate should:
  1. Be a committed believer, a member of a local church in good standing, and in agreement with the school's philosophies and statement of faith.
  2. Hold a Bachelors degree.
  3. Have prior experience in financial development or related fields.
  4. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Be analytical, innovative, and decisive.
  6. Be an organized, concise thinker and communicator.
  7. Be strong and inspirational with volunteer leaders.
  8. Be persuasive with prospects.
  9. Be imaginative in packaging projects for fund raising.
  10. Possess high moral integrity.
  11. Have patience and perseverance.
  12. Be a team player.
