West Bay Christian Academy is a co-educational, independent Christian school. WBCA has been fulfilling its mission of providing an educational program that is "distinctively Christian and academically excellent" for over 30 years. The Academy first opened its doors in 1981 with 60 students in Kindergarten through 6th grad, renting classroom space from Quidnessett Baptist Church.
After more than a decade of steady growth, WBCA moved its middle school to a new building on an 11-acre campus on School Street in North Kingstown. An elementary wing was added in 2001, and in 2003 a gymnasium, fine arts room, library, and science lab were completed. In September 2004, the remainder of the Academy moved to the present School Street campus. The early childhood wing, with six classrooms, a new front entrance, and office and conference space was completed in August 2009. This allowed West Bay to open a Preschool. The Preschool expanded in September 2010 to include a 4 yr old Pre-K program and a 3 yr old Preschool program.
